Job Summary
The objective of this position is to sustain and increase Company revenue and profitability. Meeting this objective will be accomplished by establishing, enhancing and managing residential and business customer relationships through increased customer satisfaction and loyalty. The assigned customer base will generally consist of builders and residential homeowners as well as companies with a national presence. The position's primary responsibility is to proactively establish relationships and trust with the customers' key decision makers through proactive customer meetings and outbound customer calls. The Account Manager will be DTE Energy's single point of contact. The Account Manager will be responsible for , managing customer relationships, and customer expansion activities, etc.
Key Accountabilities
Develop and maintain relationships with customers' key decision makers primarily through customer meetings by understanding customer's operation, energy related applications and concerns.
Work with Gas Marketing Strategy team to identify business opportunities and customer needs to enhance customer relationships.
Manage the customer service process and address service related issues.
Work with customers and perform rate comparisons to determine the best natural gas rates to retain or reacquire customers and to ensure that customers are on the best rate.
Administer special pricing contracts; educate customers about natural gas options, etc.
Coordinate with customer and DTE personnel to facilitate and manage building expansion and construction issues, changes in their load profiles, administration of rules and policies, collection of associated expansion charges, etc.
Coordinate research and resolve customers' issues and concerns.
Input day to day customer interactions into Company workload management
Contact customers regarding available products and Services and respond to their inquiries.
Join professional related customer organizations.
Actively participate in the organizations as well as other community activities.
Establish and maintain relationships with individuals at all levels of management in other internal DTE Energy organizations who directly or indirectly impact and/or influence the level of service received by assigned business customers.
Use Continuous Improvement tools to identify defects and improve processes
Interpret complex rate/price information and resolve customer rate/price inquiries.
## Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or other related field and the knowledge/capabilities typically acquired through 5-plus years of job-relevant experience, inclusive of marketing and sales or customer service experience.
Preferred: MBA
Either prior to or within a management-determined time frame subsequent to accepting this job, complete company-sponsored (or sanctioned) classes in basic natural gas , energy management, and sales and negotiating.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications sufficient to apply them with minimal instruction or guidance; this level of proficiency is attainable through 3-plus year(s) of substantive experience with the applications.
Competent in multi-tasking (i.e. the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, issues or projects that may include high-visibility initiatives and require innovation, teamwork and planning).
Analytical and problem-solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions for various situations.
Well-developed organization and planning skills (typically acquired through 5-plus years of experience).
Ability to apply project planning and implementation and/or continuous improvement principles (typically acquired through several years of experience in these areas) to affect tangible, positive outcomes.
Consulting and influencing skills consistent with the ability to build relationships and influence parties; may include getting parties to embrace changing expectations and initiatives.
Ability to coordinate cross-functional work groups and projects, optimal outcomes.
