2 Full-time 19 hours ago Full Job Description The College of Education at Eastern Michigan University seeks to hire an Associate Dean for Students and Curriculum and Chief of Staff.
A leader in teaching and education, EMU was founded in 1849 as Michigan State Normal School.
The university belongs to the Mid-American Conference and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
EMU is a Carnegie-designated doctoral institution (R2)--high research activity.
The College of Education is divided into three departments and offers over 85 majors and minors and over 30 graduate degrees, including two Ph.
D.
programs.
It has one of the oldest Special Education programs in the United States.
The mission of the College of Education is to inspire, educate, and prepare professionals to be outstanding educators, leaders, and scholars in urban, global, and diverse educational and community settings.
Eastern Michigan University enrolls a diverse population of students.
The EMU campus is located in the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor community, five miles from downtown Ann Arbor, 35 miles west of Detroit, and 50 miles from Toledo.
Chicago, Cleveland and Toronto are each a half-day's drive away.
The Associate Dean assists the Dean in the administration and development of the College of Education.
This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position.
This position is supervised by the Dean.
Areas of responsibility focus on student success (including supervising support initiatives, student engagement, exceptions, complaints & conflicts, student aid funds, student recruitment & access, graduate/post-bacc advising, building intentional inclusion efforts for diversity, equity, and justice), curriculum (including overseeing accreditation, program development and curriculum planning, course scheduling, room changes, and building intentionally inclusive academic programming for diversity, equity, and justice), Chief of Staff (including staff development, retention, advocacy, and concerns/conflicts that rise to the Office of the Dean, and building inclusive work environments for diversity, equity, and justice), and leadership & strategy (including supervise the Office of Academic Services, co-lead diversity, equity, inclusion and justice efforts, execute vision and strategy for the College).
Each area of responsibility includes the intentional inclusion of historically marginalized communities and persons.
The Associate Dean is a member of the College Executive Team and serves as liaison to numerous University offices and committees as well as state and federal authorization/accreditation offices and groups.
Anticipated start date in July, 2023.
Minimum Qualifications include an earned doctorate in an area represented by the programs in the College, academic achievement equivalent to the rank of a tenured faculty member at Eastern Michigan University, demonstrated commitment to and achievement in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in higher education settings, minimum of five years of university teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications include three years of higher education administrative experience, demonstrated experience with student success, program development, accreditation, and staff development.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
